The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences acknowledges Australia’s First Nations Peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land and gives respect to the Elders – past and present – and through them to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are advised that the MAAS website contains a range of Indigenous Cultural Material. This includes artworks, artifacts, images and recordings of people who may have passed away, and other objects which may be culturally sensitive.

'Rock 'n' Roll Cowgirl' costume by Jenny Kee

Performance costume, 'Rock'n'Roll Cowgirl'. It consists of a full circle skirt attached to a pair of denim shorts. A hoop has been sewn into the hem of the skirt and the surface of the skirt has been appliqued with beaded and sequined North American iconic images. Also included in the costume is a vest that is also appliqued with beaded and sequined images and with red plastic fringing sewn around the armholes, a yellow synthetic fibre wig, a red sequined oversized cowboy hat, a pair of black armbands with oval shaped panels of turquoise fabric sewn to the surface of the armbands and a pair of red sequin mesh fabric leggings.
