Vaporizing lamp in packaging, 'The improved Queen Mab vaporizing lamp', brass / cardboard, manufacturer unknown, c.1910
Vaporizer consisting of a small spirit lamp with adjustable wick, above which is mounted a bowl. Both parts are made of brass. Substances placed in the bowl would be evaporated by the heat of the lamp below to produce a vapour. The lamp is packaged in a white cardboard box with flip-open lid. The lid is labelled 'The Improved Queen Mab Vaporizing Lamp...', and describes uses such as perfuming rooms, disinfecting the sick room, and the vaporization of medications.
