The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences acknowledges Australia’s First Nations Peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land and gives respect to the Elders – past and present – and through them to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Slip on shoes, pair, womens, leather, made by Pattison, London, England, c. 1850

Womens pair of straight slip on shoes of [turnshoe] construction with square toe and covered Louis heel. Shoes consist of pale blue kid leather uppers with square throat, side and back seams and top edge bound (mostly missing). Uppers fully lined with blue silk satin and sock is blue silk, padded and quilted. Heel covered in blue kid with brown heel breast and leather sole is finished in white at the forepart with brown polished breast.
