Notes

Sandy Barrie's "Australians behind the camera: directory of early Australian photographers 1841 to 1945" lists Sidney Riley being at 251a Pitt Street, Sydney from 1914 to 1946. Curator Louise Mitchell dates the woman's dress (in related photo 87/900) at c 1910.

Sidney Riley Studios operated concurrently at several Sydney locations (Balmain, Rozelle, Pitt St., Sydney, Marrickville & Chatswood), and in Brisbane, between 1911 and 1946. 'A Sidney Riley Portrait of your Bridal Group will be a pleasing and artistic photograph that you would delight in giving your friends', ran one of their advertisements in 1930. Sidney Riley Studio photographs are held in institutions throughout NSW and Queensland
