This Hornby No.2 Locomotive has bogie leading wheels and four, cast-iron, 14-spoke driving wheels which are coupled by connecting rods. It features a brass steam dome, cast safety valve, brass buffers and a pair of lamps on the front buffer beams. There is a drop plate between the locomotive and tender. The boiler has five red boiler bands are in groups of double, single, double, and thick diameter boiler hand rails. The company initials 'LNER' (London and North Eastern Railway) are in gold outlined in red on the splashers. There is lining around the splashers and cab sides. It is finished in a black goods LNER livery with company crest transfers on the cab sides. The locomotive is not fitted with cylinders and is built on the Meccano 'nut and bolt' system of construction.
