'Adelaide Festival' banner

This street banner, designed by Sydney artist Martin Sharp, was used to advertise the 1982 Adelaide Festival. Martin Sharp's distinctive bold, graphic, 'pop art' style, as seen in his 'Nimrod Theatre' posters and in the aesthetics of Luna Park, is evident in this banner.

Martin Sharp had also created festival posters, such as the 1979 Orange Festival of Arts and 1981 Festival of Sydney, before he was commissioned to create this poster for the 1982 Adelaide Festival.
