Includes photographs of window displays designed by Hazel Benini and other designers (shoe displays), black and white photographs of Hicks Atkinson store at the time it was closing down, sequences of fashion shots by Bruno Benini for Sportgirl, at least one showing Hazel Benini working behind the scenes. Some Sportscraft items also contained within this series.

Notes

Sportsgirl was established in Melbourne [in the 1940s-1960s?] as a youth brand and fashion outlet for Sportscraft, the iconic fashion brand founded by Russian immigrant Wolf Bardas as Sportleigh in 1914.
Sportsgirl launched into Sydney in 1960 with the opening of a store in Double Bay, then a flagship store in Pitt St in the CBD

Bruno Benini was born in Massa Marittima, Italy in 1925, arrived in Australia in 1935, and died in Melbourne in 2001
Hazel Benini nee Craig was born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1930, arrived in Melbourne in 1958, and died in Melbourne in 2021
