Scribbly Graphics overalls and t-shirt

Consisting of a koala-print t-shirt and overalls, this outfit was designed by graphic artist, Adrienne Higgs, as part of her range of children's clothing, called 'Scribbly Graphics'. She established the company in 1978, designing printed paper items before turning to fabric printing in the early 1980s. In 1987, Higgs' husband, Norman, joined the business to manage production. His arrival coincided with a decision to concentrate on a range of children's clothing with colourful designs …

Outfit, childs, consisting of overalls and t-shirt, screenprinted cotton, designed by Adrienne Higgs, made by Scribbly Graphics, Thirlmere, New South Wales, Australia, c. 2000

A pair of children's overalls in dark blue cotton with a screenprinted design of red koalas. Pockets are applied to the hips, seat and chest. A shoulder strap fastens on each side of the chest with a silver clip and button. The crotch fastens with press studs. The overalls are machine sewn and unlined. The overalls are a size 2.

A child's round-neck, short sleeved t-shirt made of white cotton jersey decorated with a screenprinted panel of red and blue koalas applied to the chest. The t-shirt is machine sewn and unlined.

Overalls: two white fabric labels inside centre back neck 'SCRIBBLY/GRAPHICS/AUSTRALIA/2', 'COTTON/CARE INSTRUCTIONS...MADE IN AUSTRALIA'. Blue and white cardboard swing tag attached to fabric labels, front 'AUSTRALIAN DESIGN FOR AUSTRALIAN KIDS/SCRIBBLY/visit us at www.scribbly.com.au', reverse black and white price sticker with barcode.
T-shirt: white fabric label inside centre back neck 'SCRIBBLY/GRAPHICS/AUSTRALIA/2'.
