This award has significance as an illustration of Festival Records’ success in generating sales of locally manufactured recordings of Australian and overseas artists whose labels it represented. When Fred Marks took charge of Festival Records in 1960, he realised that the company’s future lay not just with local talent but in obtaining the rights to release more overseas recordings. Silver coloured LP disc with Chrysalis label in centre. Mounted on black board. Round ARIA sticker on right side. Plaque at bottom with text 'Australian Platinum Award. Presented to Divinyls by the executives of Festival Records for the outstanding achievement of attaining an Australian platinum award for the album Desperate, March 1983'. Two metal hooks on reverse.
