'Orchestrelle' player reed organ made by Aeolian

The Orchestrelle made by the Aeolian company was an early form of player reed organ that utilised a perforated paper music roll containing musical data to play the organ. Orchestrelles came in a variety of models with elaborately decorated cases. This instrument, a model S, is an example of the smaller models to be produced yet still having 16 stops. This instrument is complete and in original condition.

Player reed organ, 'Aeolian Orchestrelle', wood / metal, made by Aeolian, United States of America, 1890-1910

Aeolian Orchestrelle player reed organ of 5 octaves with 16 stops finished in polished timber case with decorative panels running horizontally across top and vertically down each front side with overlapping oval design in wooden fretwork. Centred above the keyboard is a sliding panel holding the spool box. Folding knee levers beneath keyboard. Stops: Double Bass 16 Ft, Contra Bass 16 Ft, Flute 4 Ft, Horn 8 Ft, Gemshorn 8 Ft, Viola 8 Ft, Muted Strings 8 Ft, 2 blank stops, Muted Strings 8 Ft, Violina 8 Ft, French Horn 8 Ft, Euphone 8 Ft, Concert Flute 4 Ft, Vox Humana, Bourdon Bass 16 Ft.
