This bust is one of two in the Museum’s collection by the artist Charles Abrahams. There are few of his sculptures remaining in Sydney. Both busts are of Charles Windeyer (1780-1855), who worked in England as a journalist and publisher before coming to Sydney, Australia in 1828. Windeyer took up a land grant on the William’s River before being appointed as chief clerk to the bench of magistrates in 1828.
