    John Fletcher Hargrave (1815-1885), judge and politician, was born at Greenwich, England and arrived in Sydney in February 1857 with his family. He was admitted to the local Bar and became a foundation judge of the District Court and in 1865 was appointed to the Supreme Court bench.
