Silver gelatin dry plate glass negative in portrait format. The image depicts the Colonial Sugar Refining Company building on the corner of O'Connell and Bent Streets, Sydney. The four-storey Classical Revival style building is depicted in the centre of the image. Adjoining buildings on O'Connell and Bent Streets can be seen in the background of the image. The intersection of O'Connell, Bent and Loftus Streets is depicted in the foreground of the image. A tram line can be seen in the foreground running along Loftus Street. Horse drawn vehicles including carts and carriages can be seen throughout the image. Numerous pedestrians can be seen along O'Connell and Bent Streets. Electricity poles and cables and electric streetlights can be seen in the image. The caption, studio number and studio mark are inscribed on the reverse of the negative.
The Colonial Sugar Refining Company building was located on the corner of O'Connell and Bent Streets, Sydney. The four-storeyed building was constructed in 1905 and was demolished in 1962.
