Glass negative, full plate, 'Hyde Park', Kerry and Co, Sydney, Australia, c. 1884-1917.
Silver gelatin dry plate glass negative in landscape format. The image depicts Hyde Park in Sydney. A path is depicted extending from the foreground on the right side of the image into the background of the image. Groups of men, women and children can be seen in the park. The people are sitting on park benches, sitting and laying on the grass, standing and sitting on portable seats. The people appear to be observing and listening to a band playing in the bandstand which is depicted in the centre of the image. This image is similar to anotherKerry and Co image (85/1284-801), many of the same people in the crowd aredepicted in both images, suggesting that they were taken on the same day. The Captain Cook statue in Hyde Park is depicted in the background on the right side of the image and the Australian Museum is depicted in the background on the left side of the image The caption, studio number and studio mark are inscribed on the reverse of the negative.
