Silver gelatin dry plate glass negative in landscape format. The image depicts Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney. The image is taken just inside the entrance looking west across the Oaks Lawn area to the grandstand areas. Two grandstands are depicted in the right side of the image. The original Member's Stand (also known as the Official Stand) is depicted the foreground of the image. The Paddock Stand is depicted in the background of the image. Crowds of peopl can be seen in the grandstands, on the lawn area and in the infield area. The racetrack is depicted in the left side of the image. Horses can be seen racing in the background. The studio number, caption and studio mark are inscribed on the reverse of the negative.
The original Member's Stand at Randwick Racecourse burnt down and was replaced by a new grandstand in 1910. The stand depicted in the image is the original stand.
