    Armour, full suit, steel/leather, England, 16th century plus reproduction pieces by Raymond Bartell, [England/USA], 19th century (OS)
    Suit of armour, metal/leather, Raymond Bartell, England, 1500-1899.(OF). Suit of armour from St. Donats Castle, Wales, 16th century. The helmet, except for visor, 1 thigh defence & 1 shoulder defence, are of 19th century date. The legs, feet & most of the gauntlets are the work of the late Randolph Hearst's armourer, Raymond Bartell, who was responsible for additions to the thigh defences & for converting the arms & collar from genuine 16th century pieces to match the present breast plate. The backplate, although contemporary, does not belong to the breast-plate. All additions are, with the exception of the legs, well & correctly made.(SB).
