Womens straight buckle shoe of turned construction with blunt pointed toe and wedge heel. Shoe consists of dark green sprigged silk upper with the edges bound in ivory. Pointed tongue is covered by two pointed straps which cross centre front and fastened by metal knee buckle which is not original to the shoe (mid 18th century). Buckle shoe, straight one of pair, womens, silk / leather / wood / metal, maker unknown, England, 1775-1780
Womens straight buckle shoe of turned construction with blunt pointed toe and wedge heel. Shoe consists of dark green sprigged silk upper with the edges bound in ivory. Pointed tongue is covered by two pointed straps which cross centre front and fastened by metal knee buckle which is not original to the shoe (mid 18th century). Heel is olive coloured wool worsted over alum and sole is brown leather with brown edge finish at waist and breast.
