Buckle shoe, straight, one of pair, womens, appliqued silk satin / leather / linen, maker unknown, England, 1760-1769
Womens straight buckle shoe of rand construction with visible stitching. Shoe is ivory silk satin with pointed upcurved toe, covered Louis heel and brown leather insole and sole. Upper is fastened by pointed straps crossing over a medium high tongue through a large brass buckle, (not original); with dog legged side seams from the heel breast. Shoe is decorated with silver lace applique on vamp, side seams and top edge. Vamp is lined with linen, the tongue with yellow silk satin and the quarters with white kid.
