Buckle shoe, indoor, womens, silk satin / leather / [silver], maker unknown, England, c1760-1769
Womens single straight indoor buckle shoe of turnshoe construction with fingertip pointed toe and covered wedged louis heel. Shoe consists of fawn silk satin upper featuring a medium high tongue covered by rounded end straps with a silver buckle, straight side seams at mid waist, top edge binding over back seam. Upper lined in white kid, linen and pale blue silk and the sock is white kid. Heel covered in the same silk satin and the sole is brown edged leather with a smooth forepart, rough waist and breast.
