Glass form, 'Beauty Shell', glass, designed by Ivan Polak, hand-blown by Stan Melis, made at Jam Factory, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, 1981

Heavy bowl-like glass form in the shape of an open sea shell. The form is hand-blown in translucent blue purple glass and has a natural organic-shaped body with an open and rounded interior which rises at the back and presents a gently rounded lip protruding at the front. Inclusions of bright orange glass have been added during manufacture and form irregular-shaped spots spreading over the interior. The slightly pointed base has a cracked pontil joint.

Marks

'1/81' and 'I Polak' is engraved on the base.
A white paper sticker marked 'Beauty Shell / Polak, I . $250' in blue ballpoint pen is adhered to the base.
