Toy, Muppet doll, Big Bird, synthetic cloth/polyurethane/cellulose, Muppets Inc/Knickerbocker Toy Company, USA/ Taiwan, 1980-1985.
Soft toy based on the character Big Bird from the Muppets, which were puppet-style figures that appeared on TV's Sesame Street, an American children's program, and in Muppet TV specials and films.
Yellow synthetic body, stuffed with shredded polyurethene and cellulose fibres, yellow synthetic wings and tail, head sewn in two pieces with separate piece for beak, plastic glued on protruding eyes with pink eyelids, body seamed in centre front and back with separate piece for rear into which tail is sewn, orange and red striped synthetic fabric legs with semi articulated toes. Wings and tail unstuffed, fabric semi articulated hands. Dressed in vinyl red raincoat with yellow trim and fireman's hat, which are attached to the body. Printed on hat in blue '1', printed on pocket in yellow, 'Big Bird'.

Thelma White has stated that the toy was bought and used between 1980 and1985.

History

Notes

Used in the early to mid 1980s by the granddaughters of Thelma White, Tanya and Kelly White, who are the daughters of Donald White (b.6.11.48) and his wife Suzanne McHardie.

Owned by Thelma White but used by her granddaughters.
