Caroma 'Bathmates' bathroom accessories

The 'Bathmates' series was the first Australian attempt to manufacture coordinated plastic bathroom fittings, attaining acceptance in the luxury market for the first time. In 1972, the design was hailed as innovative and state of the art, receiving the 'Good Design' label and the Australian Design Index listing in 1973, and the Dunhill Industrial Design Award in 1974.

The colour, radius edged design and use of polypropylene are typical of mass produced plastic of the time. The 'Bathmates' …
